The NWT Shelter Network

Started in the early 2000s, the NWT Shelter Network consists of representatives from all the territory’s family violence shelters. We gather regularly to share updates, brainstorm solutions to common challenges, and work together on joint projects and issues.

Family Violence Shelters

Family violence shelters are emergency shelters open to all self-identifying women, with or without children, who are experiencing violence and want a safe place to stay. They are free, confidential, and accessible 24/7 across the NWT.

Family Violence

Family violence is when a person hurts a parent, child, spouse, common-law, romantic partner, ex-partner or other such relative.
